The pieces on this album are a further exploration of compositional styles. This time around, I was really drawn to more nebulous styles of composition, starting with a loose framework, or a simple melody or motif, and expanding on it. I left lots of room for improvisation that (hopefully) captured the spirit of the moment. I took lots of inspiration from jam bands, particularly the Grateful Dead, who I've been listening to since I can remember. It was important to me that each piece be able to stand on its own as a solo guitar arrangement first, but I also had some fun layering in other instruments, mostly bass guitar and keyboards, and even a second guitar and light percussion in some areas.

The album title is a reference to how I was feeling about composiing my music this way. Oftentimes I find myself worrying too much about what other people will think, so I make changes to my songs in hopes it will make my music more appealing to more people. This time around, I thought that I should instead play music for me. That is, music that I want to hear, even if it doesn't have that "mass appeal" factor. Hence, I am the Audience of One, playing music for myself...though I hope you enjoy it too!

In case anyone wants to know, all pieces are played in standard tuning, except track 10 which is played in DADGAD.
